SOUTHEAST UNIVERSITY - SEU

Country:
China (People's Republic of)

The Southeast University is one of the national key universities administered directly under the Ministry of Education of China. Its School of Computer Science and Engineering has over 260  research students, over 120 full time academics, and over 20 million Chinese RMB (around 1 million Euros) of external research funding.

Professor Guilin Qi will be the node coordinator for Southeast. He is an expert in the area of Web Science.  He is an ACM professional member since 2011. He has been working reasoning with semantic data and knowledge dynamics since 2002. Since 2011, he has been working on large scalable reasoning with annotated RDF data using massive parallel techniques. During his time as a postdoctoral researcher working in Germany, he participated in the EU-funded FP6 project, NeOn. He is responsible for reasoning with dynamic ontology and debugging ontologies to ensure the quality of the ontologies. He is now a full professor of school of Computer Science at Southeast University. He is the Chief Investigator in a number of national projects. From 2013, he will be an investigator of an Australia ARC project on Scalable Ontology Enrichment and Revision.  He was a visiting professor at Griffith University from November 2011 to February 2012.

Within SemData, Southeast will lead WP4 on scalability, bringing in its expertise in large scalable reasoning with annotated RDF data. In addition, it will participate in WP3, focusing on dealing with dynamic knowledge and streaming data, and in WP5 on dissemination.
